Comfort & Longevity
Like anybody creating Passive Houses in Australia, we have a unique perspective on our industry. We have taken the time to stop and reflect upon the way we design, detail and build houses. Questioning the merits of what have become our industry standards, the norm, and most critically….why and how the status quo has become accepted.
It will come as no surprise that the average household lives in problematic buildings. We strive to create a better standard of living.
Our journey in recent years has taught us that our building standards are too low and the same building problems and living conditions are systemic, right across the country.
Buildings are not built to last.
It is predicted that in 2050, 58% of Australian buildings will be built after 2019.
They can also create environments where health implications arise.
Over 50% of homes in Australia have mould issues.
25% of households suffer from asthma or allergies.
CO2 levels reach 2-3 times higher than deemed ‘safe’ levels in poorly ventilated homes
These numbers alone are enough to understand we have a widespread issue. Considering we spend 90% of our lives indoors, and even more time at home than ever before, our industry must change.
We have learnt far better ways to build, ensuring that the occupants can live healthy and comfortable lives, and we can not unlearn what we now know.
